Multi-Technology Detector OKM eXp 5500 Professional in Detail
The OKM eXp 5500 Professional offers impressive depth performance for both shallow and deep metal detection thanks to the combination of VLF and 3D ground scanning technologies. This advanced mix allows precise measurements at various depths and expands the possibilities of exploring underground structures and finding precious metal artifacts in challenging terrains.
PentaSense: The Multi-Sensor Scanning System with up to 5 Simultaneous Super Sensors
The PentaSense System is an advanced multi-sensor system whose 10 sensors take over the function of 5 Super Sensors side by side to perform high-resolution measurements on very wide scan fields. Thus, the eXp 5500 offers treasure hunters a new flexibility in terms of field and location requirements.
PentaSense Rod: Ergonomic Handling For Best Scan Results
Using the PentaSense Rod allows you to balance the probe ergonomically in front of you even on sloping terrain. Due to the greater distance between the probe and the detectorist, you can walk comfortably without having any influence on the measurement. In this way, you can achieve even clearer and more accurate scan results.
Detect Treasures in Different Terrains
The OKM eXp 5500 Professional is the ideal solution for exploring difficult terrain as well as wide areas fast and easily. Whether you use the Super Sensor separately or add sensor modules, called Enhancers, this 3D ground scanner adapts perfectly to different types of terrain, e.g. rocky mountain landscapes or vast desert areas.
Super Sensor Configurations: 1 - 3 - 5
The four interchangeable Enhancers can be plugged into any of the four Super Sensor sockets and thus allow for highest flexibility during assembly. With all four sensor modules, the PentaSense System is complete and allows you to scan the target area as if you carry five Super Sensors side by side simultaneously.
The single Super Sensor is ideal for more specific scans in narrow areas such as caves, passages and crevices.
By connecting two Enhancers on the left or right side, users set up the system to scan with 3 Super Sensors.
The complete PentaSense System comprises the Super Sensor with all four Enhancers. This allows you to scan wide scan fields with five pairs of sensors simultaneaously.
Treasure Hunting with All 5 Senses

as you carefully dig up your treasure.
TASTE the sweet success
of finally holding your precious find in your hands.
Metal Detection with VLF Technology
Very Low Frequency (VLF) allows detectorists to find metal objects in shallow soil. The VLF coil emits an electromagnetic field into the ground, which generates electric currents in buried metal objects. This creates its own electromagnetic field in the target objects, which can be detected by the eXp 5500. VLF metal detectors are particularly efficient at locating a variety of metals, including artifacts, relics, militaria, coins and jewelry.
Metal Discrimination for All Use Cases
With the eXp 5500 PentaCoil and its proprietary VLF search coil technology, treasure hunters, archaeologists, gold prospectors and militaria seekers can discriminate valuable metal objects made of gold and silver from iron and bronze relics and artifacts. This metal discrimination further enhances the efficiency and accuracy when exploring and searching for treasures and artifacts.
The eXp 5500 VLF Metal Detection mode offers the innovative features Multi-Frequency and Target-ID Zones.
Values in activated Target-ID zones are clearly visualized and indicated by an acoustic signal. The detected maximum value is also specified by the Target-ID.
Values in deactivated Target-ID zones are not blanked-out completely, but shown very slightly, to ensure that treasure hunters do not miss any potential targets.
Users can choose from preset scan profiles that are tailored to typical target objects. Depending on the selected scan profile, certain Target-ID ranges are masked out so that undesired objects can be ignored during treasure hunting. Moreover, the best frequency channels are assigned to each scan profile in order to offer the best detection performance for the respective profile.
In addition, a personalized scan profile can be created in which either a single or a multi-frequency range can be set based on your own experience. This allows you to adjust the detector perfectly to individual conditions such as mineralized soils, dry or wet sand etc. Last, but not least, the sensitivity can be changed depending on the mineralization of the soil or the amount of scrap in the subsoil.
Further Professional Features for Sustainable Success
The Super Sensor of the OKM eXp 5500 Professional is equipped with an LED Orbit, as treasure hunters already know from the popular OKM Rover C4. The LEDs show users buried target objects in real time.
Open-Ear Headphones support the detectorist in any environment. The ultralight headphones allow treasure hunters to listen to acoustic detector signals without completely blocking out ambient sounds. This enables users to remain alert and responsive to environmental sounds, which is especially beneficial in rough terrain.
The detector is equipped with a USB-C cable for fast data transfer and easy charging. After transferring the scan files from the Control Unit to the Windows notebook, the scans can be analyzed in detail in the included software Visualizer 3D Studio Professional Edition.
The OKM eXp 5500 Professional Control Unit is equipped with a touchscreen and a multi-lingual user interface which is very intuitive and easy to control. The new display is even easier to read in direct sunlight.
The integrated USB-C port is not only used for transferring scan files and charging the battery of the OKM eXp 5500 Professional. Moreover, both the Control Unit and all probes of this detector can now be updated via this port. This ensures that the detector is always equipped with the latest firmware and functions.
The possibility of replacing the battery directly by the user underlines the long-term reliability of the OKM detector considerably.
The OKM eXp 5500 Professional - combining OKM's renowned Ground Scan technology and the widely used VLF technology - is the perfect solution for treasure hunting in shallow and deep soil as well as narrow and wide scan fields.
